Windows XP Starter Edition.

Windows XP Starter Edition was first released in Thailand in 2004 and has been subsequently released in 139 countries and in 24 languages. Windows XP Starter Edition is suited for PCs with less memory and processing power (for example, PCs with 128 or 256 MB of RAM).

 

Windows Vista Starter.

With the global release of the Windows Vista operating system, Microsoft is introducing Windows Vista Starter, an update to Windows XP Starter Edition. Windows Vista Starter will be available in 139 countries and 59 languages around the world. Microsoft is also working to make Windows available on other low-cost hardware platforms, through partnerships with Intel and other companies.

Frankly speaking I never like the starter edition of any windows.They R simply released for the people of developing countries.I hate this thought of MS that the developing countries cant afford the other versions so they released the starter edition.If they feel that they cant afford than they should simply reduce the prices of their soft in such countries

I agree with u buddy that they should decrease the prices in developing countries. But Starter Editions might come useful for those ppl who can't afford other normal editions, like in schools, homes, etc.

I agree with U but agar MS ko itna chinta hai is middle lower class ki than they should simply provide the Windows Vista Home edition to them for about 2,500 rs or so!!!!!!!!

And I am sure if they reduce the prices to such an extent they R going to earn more because their will be less piracy

if price of s/w is less then why ppl will go 4 pirated version if original is available in less price
